Wheel Fastener: Service and Repair
Rear
REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the lug nuts and the rear wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove the brake drum.
4. Remove the hub grease cap.
5. Remove and discard the cotter pin.
6. Remove the rear wheel bearing nut and washer.
7. Remove the rear hub and wheel bearing assembly.
8. Use a press to remove the lug bolt from the wheel hub.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Use a new cotter pin.

Tighten the rear wheel bearing nut to 196-284 Nm (145-210 ft. lbs.).

Tighten the lug nuts to 98-118 Nm (72-87 ft. lbs.).
