Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair
WARNING: The backup power supply energy must be depleted before any steering column or air bag component service is performed. To
deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait 10 minutes.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait 10 minutes for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2. Remove the steering column and wheel.
3. Remove the two shift lock actuator screws and remove the shift lock actuator from the steering column tube assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install.
2. Tighten the shift lock actuator screws to 7-11 Nm (62-97 inch lbs.).
