Flex Plate: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the transaxle. 
3. Remove the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts.
4. Remove the flywheel and the flywheel reinforcing plate from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

1. Remove any sealant in the flywheel bolt holes. If reusing the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts, remove any old sealant on them.
2. Position the flywheel and the flywheel reinforcing plate on the end of the crankshaft.
3. Apply Threadlocker and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M4G204-A on the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts

and install the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts. Tighten the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts to 83-93 Nm (61-69 ft. lbs.). 

4. Install the transaxle.
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
