The following chart (Figure 15) provides a listing of the latest recommended transmission/transaxle fluid usage for all Ford and Lincoln-Mercury
vehicles:
NOTE:
Use Type "F" Fluid for Ford automatic transmissions built prior to 1974. TYPE "F" - Fluid meeting Ford Specification ESW-M2C33-F.
Motorcraft Ford Type "F" Automatic Transmission and Power Steering (Part No. XR-1-QF) or equivalent. D-II - Fluid meeting requirements
of DEXRON II. Series D. Motorcraft DEXRON II. Automatic Transmission Fluid (Part No. XT-2-QDX) or equivalent. TYPE "H" - Fluid
meeting Ford Specification ESP-M2C166-H. Motorcraft Ford Type "H" Automatic Transmission Fluid (Part No. XT-4-H) or equivalent. STD.
TRANS. LUB. - Fluid meeting Ford Specification ESP-M2C83-C. Ford Standard Transmission Lubricant (Part No. D3DZ-19C547-A) or
equivalent. For M50D transmission vehicles operating in subfreezing weather, fluid meeting Ford Specification ESW-M2C33-F or
DEXRON-II is recommended to improve cold shift efforts and synchronizer operation (Ref. TSB 81-18-10). For Hummer 5-Speed (Merkur
XR4Ti), fluid meeting Ford Specification ESD-M2C175-A or E5RY-19C547-A is recommended (Ref. TSB 85-1-15). For ATX transaxle
vehicles exposed to subfreezing weather, fluid meeting Ford Specification ESP-M2C164-A is recommended to improve cold starting and
transaxle shifts. (Ref. TSB 81-1-12). Motorcraft Ford Type "MV" Multiviscosity Automatic Transaxle Fluid (Part No. XT-3-MV) or
equivalent.
