Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
Disconnect battery.
Remove cylinder head cover.
Remove rocker shaft/camshaft bearing cap bolts gradually in sequence (10-1).
Install hint. Tighten rocker shaft/camshaft bearing cap bolts gradually in sequence (1-10),
Stage 1: Hand tighten evenly.
Stage 2: Rocker Arms/drag Arms and Bearings
Rocker arm shaft to bearing cap
M8 .................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 30 Nm.
Caution: To avoid damage to the rocker shafts, slacken each rocker shaft/camshaft bearing cap bolt one turn at a time in sequence.
Remove exhaust rocker shaft (1) and intake rocker shaft (2).
Unclip intake valve rocker arm spacer.
Remove rocker arms from shaft.
Note: Lubricate the roller portion of the rocker arms and shaft with clean engine oil.
Hydraulic lifters are replaced as an assembly with the rocker arms.
When tightening the rocker shaft/camshaft cap bolts, ensure the camshaft bearing caps are fully seated and the roller rocker arms remain in their
proper position.
Caution: the inlet and exhaust rocker shafts are not interchangeable.
