31 11 506 Lowering/raising front axle carrier (special tool SWZ00-2040)

Warning!
Danger to life!
Mount securing fixture for vehicle on lifting platform to prevent the vehicle from slipping off or tilting down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove front wheels
^
If necessary, remove underbody protection
^
Remove complete exhaust system
^
Remove bumper trim
^
Remove wheel arch cover on bumper brackets on left and right
^
R56: Remove underbody panelling on left and right
^
If necessary, disconnect plug connection on ride-height sensor and expose line up to engine carrier
Important!
If the steering spindle is separated from the steering gear, this can result in damage to the steering column switch cluster when the
steering wheel is turned!
Release screw (1).
Detach lower section of steering spindle (2) from steering gear and swing towards rear.
Installation:
Clean thread to remove all remnants of screw securing adhesive.
Replace screw.
Tighten lower steering spindle to steering gear
Clean thread to remove all traces of screw securing adhesive
Replace screw .................................................................................................................................................................................................... 28 Nm
