SUBJECT
Sunroof Does Not Operate Properly or the Battery is Discharged

MODEL
R56 (Cooper, Cooper S)

SITUATION
If a vehicle is not programmed and coded after the SHD (sunroof control module) is replaced, the sunroof may not operate properly or may discharge the
battery.

CAUSE
When a new SHD is installed and not programmed, it can cause an amperage draw and/or various operational problems with the sunroof.

CORRECTION
Update the vehicle with the most recent Progman version.

PROCEDURE
Program and code the vehicle with the most recent Progman version. Refer to SI M09 01 07 (Programming and Coding with Progman), Procedure B.

Note that Progman will automatically reprogram all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
