Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

12 14 521 Replacing Pulse Generator On Crankshaft (N12, N14)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

-

Switch off ignition

-

Read out fault memory of DME control unit

NOTE:  For purposes of clarity, the following work step is shown on the engine after it has been removed.

Remove cover (1).

Unlock plug (1) and remove.
Release screw and remove pulse generator.

Tightening torque
3AZ Crankshaft sensor

M5 x 30 ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................  5 Nm
Type: N12,N14

NOTE:  Check stored fault messages.

Now clear the fault memory.
