SUBJECT
Transmission Emergency Program Illuminated

MODEL
R52 (Cooper S) and R53 (Cooper S) equipped with Six Speed Automatic Transmission (GA6F21WA)

SITUATION
Customer complains that the transmission emergency program (EP light) is illuminated while driving.
One of the following FC's could be stored in the vehicle:

Instrument Cluster (KOMBI):

FC 51 Transmission in failsafe

MS5150 Motor Electronics (DME):

FC P0571 Brake Light Switch Implausible Signal

PROCEDURE
If FC P0571 Brake Light Switch Implausible Signal (DME) and FC 51 Transmission in failsafe (KOMBI) are both stored replace the brake light switch.

If FC P0571 Brake Light Switch Implausible Signal (DME) is stored only, replace the brake light switch.

If FC 51 Transmission in failsafe is stored without any relevant FC in DME, submit a PuMA Case to Drivetrain Group referencing FC 51 in the subject
field.
