Replacement of Output Shaft Seal - Manual 5-Speed

MODEL
R50, R52 with manual 5-speed

SITUATION

Oil continues to leak from the output shaft seal after the seal was replaced.

CAUSE

The sealing surface in the differential is damaged and/or scored during removal of the old seal.

CORRECTION

Only use shaft seal remover P/N 23 0 490 to remove the old output shaft seal. Any other method may result in damage to the sealing surface of the
differential. When installing a new seal, use shaft seal installer P/N 23 0 360. Refer to Repair Instruction 23 11 210. Both tools were supplied via the
Automatic Tool Shipment program.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Any damage caused by using the improper tool will not be covered under warranty.
