Install soft buffers, part number 51 24 0 305 688. Adjust so that distance "A" is 35 mm.&line; The later parts can be distinguished from the
early style by the size of the hole in the base of the buffer. The early parts had an approximately 7.5 mm diameter hole and the new part has
an approximately 5.5 mm diameter hole.

Cars produced prior to 4/03:

Perform step (A) above

Install new mounting screws for latch (1), part number 07 14 0 303 020, and adjust latch (2) per Repair Instructions, section 51 24 004.

Cars produced prior to 7/03:

Perform steps (A+B) above

Check to see if the additional buffers (2) are installed on the upper bumper cover mounting tabs (1). If they are not present, remove the
Phillips head screw and washer and install additional buffers.
