Spoiler: Service and Repair
Replacing Rear Spoiler (COOPER S)

51 71 407 Replacing Rear Spoiler (COOPER S)

Special tools required:

-

00 9 318

Note:

-

Minimum object temperature of rear spoiler and body >= 18° C.

-

The components must be preheated if this temperature is lower.

Open trunk lid.
Remove stoppers (1) and release nuts underneath for rear spoiler.
Carefully detach rear spoiler from rear lid with special tool 00 9 318 and hot air blower.

Installation:

3AZ Spoiler to rear lid

M6.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................8.5 Nm

Note:  Remove all traces of adhesive tape (1) from rear lid spoiler*.

*only if reusing the rear spoiler.

Installation:
For cleaning, use a mineral-oil- and fusel-free disposable cloth or a dirt-free cleaning cloth.

Clean bonding surface on rear lid and rear spoiler with spirit

-

Air drying time at least 1 minute

-

Only apply Sika Cleaner 205 to bonding surface of rear lid

-

Air drying time at least 1 minute.

-

Stick new adhesive tape (1) onto rear spoiler and press down firmly

-

Pull protective film (liner) off adhesive tape

-

Adjust rear spoiler fixtures to rear lid and secure rear spoiler with nuts
