Shattered Rear Window Glass

MODEL
R52 (Convertible)

SITUATION

Customer states the rear window glass shattered without any apparent outside influence.

CAUSE

Rear window glass may have residual internal stress from the manufacturing process.

CORRECTION

In case of a customer complaint, and after it has been determined that there is no external influence causing the damage, replace the convertible top cover
which includes the rear window glass.

The glass manufacturing process was improved in the middle of May 2005.

Note:

Damage to the glass can only be claimed under the warranty if it is a consequence of a manufacturing defect. The customer should always be
questioned for the origin of the damage. Damage to the glass that is caused by any external or outside influence will not be covered under the terms
of MINI New Passenger Car Limited Warranty.

PROCEDURE

Do not replace the entire convertible top.

Replace only the convertible top cover per Repair Instructions RA 54 34 120.
