Brake Rotor/Disc: Testing and Inspection
Checking Rear Disks For Runout and Thickness Variation

Checking both rear brake disks for runout and differences in thickness

(rear wheels removed)

Special Tools Required:

-

00 2 470

00 2 480

Remove bolts (2).

Release caliper and position aside.

Caution:  Do not allow caliper to hand on brake hose.

Secure brake disk with 2 wheel studs (1) through maximum of 5 turns, if necessary use washers to prevent wheel studs from touching trailing arm.

Fit special tool 00 2 510 with special tool 00 2 470/ 00 2 480

Apply dial-gauge tip on outer edge of brake disk with light preload.

Turn brake disk slowly and read off lateral runout.

Measure thickness differences within brake surface at approximately 8 points with micrometer.
