Cooper S with JCW Kit - DME Programming Procedure

MODEL
MY 05 R53/52 (MINI Cooper S) with 6-speed manual transmission from 07/04 

SITUATION

The new DME software for R53/52 Cooper S (with manual 6-speed transmission) equipped with John Cooper Works Kit is available since DIS CD 41.

The new programming numbers, required for manual software determination, were not included in Installation Instructions 01 29 0 397 165.

CORRECTION

Until the Installation Instructions are corrected, use the following programming procedure for MY'05 Cooper S after installing the John Cooper Works
Kit.

IMPORTANT:

DME software calibration for JCW Kits for MINI Cooper S with automatic transmission (F21) has not been released yet. As communicated earlier
through DCS messages until further notice, do not install John Cooper Works Kit in F21 trans equipped vehicles.

PROCEDURE

To reprogram the EMS2K/MS5150 control module on MY'05 Cooper S John Cooper Works kit vehicles:

1.

Connect a battery charger.

2.

Connect GT1 loaded with CD 41.0, or higher.

3.

Select: Coding/Programming.

4.

Select: 5 Programming, then the right arrow.

5.

Select: 1 DME Programming, then the right arrow.

6.

Select 2 Exchange Control Unit, then the right arrow.

7.

Display appears First determine and then program basic control unit, then the right arrow.

8.

Select 1 Determine basic control unit, then the right arrow. Automatic determination is going to be performed.

9.

DME ESM2000/MS5150 is the faulty control unit still installed in the car?, select NO.

10.

On the next screen, select right arrow.

11.

Enter basic control unit part number

enter: 7542310 for vehicles produced 07/04 up to 04/05 (EMS2K - black DME)

enter: 7553735 for vehicles produced from 04/05 (MS5150 - silver DME)

Number correct? Select YES.

12.

On the next screen select the right arrow.

13.

Enter full VIN Number correct? Select YES.
