Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Assembly and Installation

1. Assemble transaxle side of driveshaft in reverse order of disassembly, noting the following:

a. Pack boot with 4.94-5.64 ounces of suitable grease.

b. Set boot so that it does not swell and deform when its length is set at 3.82-3.90 inches, Fig. 8.
c. Ensure boot is properly installed on driveshaft groove, then lock new larger and smaller boot bands securely.

2. Assemble wheel side of driveshaft in reverse order of disassembly, noting the following:

a. Pack boot with 3.70-4.41 ounces of suitable grease.
b. Set boot so that it does not swell and deform when its length is set at 3.917-3.996 inches, Fig. 8.
c. Ensure boot is properly installed on driveshaft groove, then lock new larger and smaller boot bands securely.
