HEATER GURGLE NOISE

APPLIED MODELS: 300ZX, Maxima, 200SX, Truck & Pathfinder

SERVICE INFORMATION

The Applied Model vehicles may exhibit a gurgle noise from the heater core when the temperature control lever is moved to the warm/hot position. The
noise will usually get louder as engine speed increases. This condition may be due to air trapped in the heater core. Use the following procedure to bleed
the air out of the cooling system of incident vehicles.

NOTE:

If it is verified that there are no air leaks in the cooling system (steps 1 and 2 below), the gurgle noise should go away if the heater is operated
for 5-10 days during normal driving and cool-down cycles.

BLEEDING PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Be careful not to spill coolant on the drive belts.

NOTE:

The temperature control lever should remain in the full hot position during the complete bleeding procedure.

1.

Check for the following conditions:

A.

Kinks or restrictions in the tube between the radiator and reservoir tank.

B.

Plastic flashing on the reservoir tank nipple (connection for tube to radiator).

2.

Pressure test the radiator cap and system.

3.

Slowly fill the radiator and reservoir tank with coolant to the "MAX" mark.

4.

Warm up the engine and then hold at 2000 rpm for approximately 5 minutes.

5.

Turn the engine off and allow it to cool down.
