Idle Speed: Adjustments
After Engine KA24-012039

1.
Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
2.
Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.
3.
Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load, then check the idle speed.
Idle speed should be:
M/T 700 ± 50 rpm in neutral.
A/T 750 ± 50 rpm in neutral.
If not proceed to step #4.

4.
Turn the engine off.
5.
Disconnect the throttle sensor connector (located on the throttle chamber).
6.
Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
7.
Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.
8.
Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load, then idle.

Adjust idle speed to:
M/T 650 ± 50 rpm in neutral.
A/T 700 ± 50 rpm in neutral.
by turning the idle speed adjusting screw on the idle air adjusting unit (located on the back of the intake manifold).
10. Turn the engine off.
11. Reconnect the throttle sensor.
***Certain models may exhibit an idle fluctuation at operating temperature.
