Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle and remove wheel.

2.

Loosen brake tube and remove brake hose locking spring. Remove plate and brake hose from strut bracket.

3.

Remove caliper.

4.

On models equipped with adjustable shocks, disconnect shock electrical connectors.

5.

Remove strut to steering knuckle attaching bolts.

6.

Disconnect knuckle arm from bottom of strut.

7.

Support strut with a suitable jack.

8.

Remove upper strut attachments.

9.

Slowly lower jack and remove strut from vehicle.

10.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque upper strut attaching bolts to 23-31 ft. lbs. and strut to lower knuckle arm attaching bolts to 53-72 ft. lbs.
