BRAKE BLEEDING, 1984 300ZX and 200SX

APPLIED MODEL:

1984 300ZX and 200SX

SERVICE INFORMATION

Due to design changes in the brake master cylinder of 1984 300ZX and 200SX models, the brake system must be bled with a vacuum type brake bleeder.
The brake system on the applied models must not be pressure bled as described in the 1984 Service Manual. Pressure bleeding the brake system will not
completely remove air from the brake lines.

NOTE:

A vacuum type brake bleeder can be used on all Nissan models but it is essential that one be used on the 300ZX and 200SX models.

It is recommended that a Bear brake bleeder (P/N 74-100) be used to vacuum bleed the brake system on all Nissan models.

SERVICE PROCEDURES

PRECAUTION - CAREFULLY MONITOR BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AT MASTER CYLINDER DURING BLEEDING OPERATION.

Bleed air first from the brake master cylinder, then from each wheel caliper or cylinder in the following order:

1.

Driver side rear

2.

Passenger side rear

3.

Passenger side front

4.

Driver side front

1.

Connect bleeder to workshop air supply (80 to 175 PSI).

2.

Connect the clear tubing with the rubber connector end to the brake system bleed screw.

3.

Depress the lever on the bleeder top to create vacuum in the bleeder cannister.

4.

Apply a suitable wrench to the bleed screw and open.

5.

When all air is removed from brake line, tighten bleed screw and release the lever on the bleeder. Proceed to the next wheel.

CAUTION - Do not lay the bleeder on its side because fluid will be discharged from the bleeder exhaust/muffler area.
