Idle Air Control Valve-Air Regulator: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Idle Air Control Valve-Air Regulator

1. Disconnect the air regulator connector.
2. Check resistance of air regulator with an ohm meter.

Resistance: Approximately 70 - 80 ohms. 

3. Remove the air regulator and hose.
4. Check air passage at operating temperature.

Should be closed.

5. Check air passage at cool temperature.

Should be open.

6. Replace the regulator if it fails the above tests.
