Remove air cleaner, if not already removed.

Disconnect E.A.I. pipe fixing clamps B and C.

Disconnect E.A.I. pipe A from exhaust manifold. On power steering equipped vehicles, a 27mm crow foot wrench is useful for removing the
E.A.I. pipe nut.

Disconnect three cover bolts "E".

Remove and discard manifold cover.

Insert new rear manifold cover from the direction shown in Figure 6.

Attach front cover and rear cover using bolt "F".

Install three front cover bolts "E".

Install front cover and rear cover with four bolts "G".

Connect E.A.I. pipe and clamps B and C.

Spark Plug Check

When a cold driveaway customer complaint is received, interview the customer to determine the customer's normal driving pattern, If the
customer's driving pattern is one of short trip lengths resulting in insufficient engine warm-up, inspect the spark plugs. If the spark plugs appear
fouled, replace the normal heat range spark plugs (BPR5ES-11) with a hotter spark plug (BPR4ES-11, P/N 22401-P8314). Gap the spark plugs to
1.0-1.1 mm (.039-.043 in.).

Drain engine coolant from radiator.

Disconnect water temperature switch connectors. (Refer to Figure 7).

32.

Remove water temperature switch from intake manifold, and install plug
(01642 -00012). (Refer to Figure 7).

NOTE:

Apply sealant to the threaded portion of the plug to prevent coolant leakage.

Clean the threaded portion of water temperature switch.
