If only one side air bag module is replaced, submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the claims coding table.

Service Procedure

1.

Remove the correct seat from the vehicle (the side for which a code was stored).

Refer to the Service Manual (ESM), section SE, for seat removal instructions.

Before disconnecting the side air bag harness connector:

a.

Write down all radio station presets.

b.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

c.

Wait at least 3 minutes after the negative battery cable is disconnected.

2.

Place the seat on a clean working surface. Position it so you can work on the rear of the seat back.

3.

Unhook the elastic straps at the lower rear corners of the seat back (see Figure 1).

4.

Separate the plastic strip hooks at the base of the seat back (see Figure 2).
