In the next step, the wheels must be braked gradually to a stop to allow proper CVT "downshift" ratio change. If this step is not performed properly, the
CVT may start in an incorrect ratio.

3. After five (5) minutes, gradually brake the wheels to a stop, put in Park, turn off the engine, and then drain the CVT fluid.

WARNING:

CVT fluid will be HOT.

^ If the oil pan has a drain plug, remove the drain plug only. 

^ If no oil pan drain plug, remove the oil pan.

4. Reinstall the drain plug or oil pan, as it applies.

5. Repeat Step 1 - 4.

6. After performing Step 5, drain the CVT fluid and fill / top off for the last time.

^ If the oil pan has a drain plug, replace the drain plug gasket.

^ If no drain plug, replace with a new oil pan gasket and new bolts.

Bolts torque: 8.0 Nm (0.81 Kg-m, 70.8 in lb)

>

Drain plug torque: 34.3 Nm (3.5 kg-m, 25.3 ft lb)

^ To achieve proper CVT level, check with CVT fluid temperature at a minimum of 161°F/80°C.

TCM Initialization Procedure

TCM Initialization Procedure

1. Set the parking brake with the selector lever in "P" (Park).

2. Connect C-III and the Vehicle Interface (VI) to the vehicle and turn the ignition ON (engine OFF - not running).

3. Navigate C-III screens to Transmission, then Special Functions.

4. Select the TCM part number (P/N) and Calibration Data, and then print and save a copy.

5. Perform the initialization (EEPROM erase) procedure as follows:

a. Select Transmission Self Diagnostic Results.

b. Press and hold the brake pedal.

c. Shift the selector lever to "R" (Reverse).

d. Press and hold the accelerator pedal down about one-third, but no more than halfway.

The purpose of this step is to get both the wide open throttle and closed throttle position signals to read "OFF" at the same time.

e. Press Erase.

IMPORTANT:

During the next step, observe the shift selector position display.

f. Shift the selector lever to "P" (Park).

If there is a delay with "P" to illuminate, EEPROM has successfully erased. If there is no delay, EEPROM has not erased. Perform Step 5 again.
