SERVICE INFORMATION
Power antenna incidents of "no operation" or "improper retraction" are often due to customer or driver accident or misuse. Examples include contact
with the top of a garage or a tree branch, or forgetting to lower the antenna before entering an automated car wash. To address such incidents a new
service part is available for field replacement.
IMPORTANT:
Although a new service part is available, repairs for such incidents as described above are not covered under warranty. Only repairs due to defects in
material or workmanship will be covered under warranty.
In most cases the antenna motor is fully operational with proper power. In these cases replacement of the entire power antenna assembly is not necessary
to restore operation. Before removing any power antenna assembly, make an attempt to repair the antenna by removing dirt, road grime and other foreign
matter, then lubricate the antenna rod sections as appropriate.
If the antenna is still inoperative, use the following procedure to replace the rod only.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Antenna Rod Replacement
1.
Remove the antenna nut and base (see Figure 1)
2.
Turn the radio to ON and the antenna rod will extend. If the antenna rod does not extend, always check the power supply to the power antenna
before replacing the power antenna assembly.
