Installing timing cover: Place RTV sealant on both sides of head gasket surface. Apply RTV to sealing surface of timing cover. Do not fill deep
channel closest to O-ring seal. Maneuver cover carefully into position. STOP! With a screwdriver or other suitable tool, carefully remove any
RTV smeared onto timing chain and guide area.

Install oil separator assembly.

Install aluminum and steel oil pans by following the sealing procedures and torque sequence shown on page EM-13 of the Service Manual.

You may need to support engine from underneath with jack when installing cross-member.

When installing P/S idler pulley, install only the lower bolt at first; the upper bolts installed later pass through (2) brackets and need to be carefully
positioned at installation.

Drive belts: Install P/S-alternator belt first, then A/C drive belt and tighten.

9.

Leave splash shields and wheel off until last to check for leaks. Verify that there is no oil leak after the engine has fully warmed up at idle.
