7. Measure clearance between retaining plate and snap ring. If not within allowable limit, select proper retaining plate. 

Specified clearance:

Standard 1.8 - 2.2 mm (0.071 - 0.087 inch)
Allowable limit 3.0 mm (0.118 inch) 

Thickness Of Retaining Plates Part No. and Thickness:

31537-80x11: 3.2 mm (0.126 inch)
31537-80x12: 3.4 mm (0.134 inch)
31537-80x13: 3.6 mm (0.142 inch)
31537-80x14: 3.8 mm (0.150 inch)
31537-80x15: 4.0 mm (0.157 inch) 

8. Check operation of high clutch.

9. Install seal rings to input shaft. Apply petroleum jelly to seal rings. Always replace when removed.

NOTE:  Roll paper around seal rings to prevent seal rings from spreading.
