CAUTION:
Perform lubricant return operation before each refrigeration system disassembly. However, if a large amount of refrigerant or lubricant is
detected, never perform lubricant return operation. See: Refrigerant Oil/Service and Repair/Perform Lubricant Return Operation.
REMOVAL
1. Use a refrigerant collecting equipment (for HFC-134a) to discharge the refrigerant. See: Refrigerant/Service and Repair/Recycle Refrigerant. (If
equipped)
2. Drain engine coolant from cooling system. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair/Draining.
3. Remove cowl top extension. See: Body and Frame/Cowl/Cowl Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Exploded View.
4. Remove mounting nut (A), and lower dash insulator (1) a position without the hindrance for work. (If equipped)
5. Remove mounting bolt (A), and then disconnect low-pressure flexible hose (1) and high-pressure pipe (2) from expansion valve. (If equipped)
CAUTION:
Cap or wrap the joint of the A/C piping and expansion valve with suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of air.
6. Remove clamps (A), and then disconnect heater hoses (1) from
A/C unit assembly.
CAUTION:
-
Some coolant may spill when heater hoses are disconnected.

Close off the coolant inlet and outlet on the heater core (2 locations) with shop cloths.
