Valve Clearance: Adjustments

Remove rocker cover.

2.

Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC on its compression stroke and adjust valve clearance Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 6. (see Fig. 10) 

Intake and Exhaust valve clearance: 0.012 inch (0.30 mm) Hot or Cold. Ambient Temperature 20° (68° F). whenever valve clearences are
adjusted to cold specifications, check that the clearence satisfy hot specifications and adjust again if necessary.
Adjuster lock nut torque: 16 - 22 Nm (12 - 16 ft.lbs.)

Rotate crankshaft one turn so that No. 4 cylinder is at TDC on its compression stroke and adjust valve clearance Nos. 3, 5, 7 and 8.

Apply suitable liquid gasket to rubber plugs, then install plugs flush with cylinder head. Do not start engine for 30 minutes after installing
plugs.

Install rocker arm cover, tightening bolts, in the order shown, to specification.
Torque: 6 - 10 Nm (4.3 - 7.2 ft.lbs)

Loosen bolts one full turn, then retighten to specification.
