Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

Check Engine Lamp
The check engine lamp, located on the left side of the instrument cluster, illuminates to inform the driver of a malfunction. It can also be used by
the technician to identify trouble codes stored in the E.C.U.
If a malfunction is detected in one or more of the following circuits, the lamp will stay lit while the engine is running, until the problem is repaired
or is no longer detected.

Malfunctions that affect the emission system performance can be detected by performing MODE 3 (STORED CODES) TEST.
It will also flash simultaneously with the red diode on the ECU when extracting codes or when inspecting feedback operation.
