SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1996-97 Truck has a MIL "ON" and one or more of the DTCs listed below are stored in self diagnosis, water contamination within the evaporative
emission system may be the cause of this condition.

P0440 (EVAP Small Leak)

P0443 (EVAP Purge Control Valve & Solenoid Valve)

^

P0446 (EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve)

^

P0450 (EVAP Pressure Sensor)

^

P1445 (EVAP Purge Volume Control Valve)

To correct this incident, should it occur:

A)

Install a water separator to the evaporative emission system to prevent water entry.

B)

Determine the cause of the stored DTC(s) and repair the vehicle accordingly.

Instructions for water separator installation as well as repair diagnostics are included in this bulletin. For additional information regarding the diagnosis
and repair of the stored DTC causes, refer to the appropriate section of the applicable service manual.
