Apply a coat of suitable grease on the new 0-ring. Then install the 0-ring on the axle housing (see Figure D2).

Insert the "Axle Installation Seal Protector" special tool # J-34296-1 into the new axle shaft seal.

Make sure the split ends of the protector butt up to each other and do not overlap (see Figure D3).

Leave the protector in place during axle installation to protect the grease seal.

4.

Re-install the axle shaft assembly (see Figure D4) making sure:

The axle shaft does not damage the new grease seal.
