Idle Speed: Adjustments

1.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

2.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

3.

Check the idle speed.
Idle speed should be 750 ± 50 rpm (A/T in "N" position).
If not proceed to step 4.

Turn diagnostic mode selector on the E.C.U. fully clockwise (located on the floor in front of the center console).

^Do not turn it back.

Adjust the idle speed to 700 ± 50 rpm (A/T in "N" position ) by turning idle adjusting screw on the auxiliary air control valve (located on the L.F.
side of the intake plenum).

6.

Turn diagnostic mode selector fully counterclockwise.
***Certain vehicles may exhibit an idle fluctuation in neutral or drive at operating temperature.
This may be caused by the use of a non-genuine Nissan air filter or an incorrectly designed air cleaner box.

1.

While the engine is demonstrating the fluctuation, remove the air filter.
If the idle speed stabilizes, refer to step #2.
If the idle speed does not stabilize refer to "Diagnosis By Symptom" in EMISSIONS.

2.

Install a genuine Nissan air filter and retest. 
If idle speed remains unstable proceed to step #3

3.

Install the countermeasure air cleaner box and recheck.
