INTRODUCTION

Some 1997 Maxima and 1997 Altima sedans may have defective transaxle solenoid valve assemblies. To ensure customer satisfaction and prevent the
potential future failure of the transaxle assembly, Nissan has initiated a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the transaxle solenoid valve assembly.
The service department will also conduct specific tests to evaluate the operating performance of the transaxle assembly.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number P8119 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature
dealing with this campaign.

NUMBER OF VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AFFECTED

The total number of vehicles potentially affected is approximately 60,000.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is a dealer responsibility to check (with SERVICE-COMM) each vehicle falling within the range of this service campaign which for any reason enters
the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from your dealership, other Nissan dealerships, private parties, or vehicles presented by
transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in dealer inventory.

A campaign status report (sent under separate cover) will assist you in the identification of those vehicles involved in this service campaign. Each
dealership service department is encouraged to contact these vehicle owners to have the required inspections and repairs completed on their vehicle.
