SERVICE INFORMATION
The sun roofs of some 1985 and early production 1986 Maxima Sedan and Wagon models may exhibit noises under the following conditions:
A.
Squeaking due to movement of the sun roof lid weatherstrip against the front and/or rear roof protectors with lid closed.
B.
Popping or creaking due to movement of the sun roof frame alignment hole bushings against the steel locating pins with lid open or closed.
C.
Squeaking or creaking due to movement of the sun roof frame rubber seal against the underside of the roof skin with lid open or closed.
D.
Rattling due to vertical movement of the closed sun roof glass lid on bumps, causing the front roller to hit the steel guide above the plastic
ramp.
E.
Rattling due to wear on the four (4) plastic guides on the shade panel.
F.
Rattling of wind deflector due to excess clearance between deflector pin and support arm.
G.
Wind noise from sun roof weatherstrip. This is most noticeable with the shade open.
Sun Roof
Use the following Service Procedures to reduce the noise for the specific condition of the incident vehicle.
Condition A:
Squeak From Sun Roof Weatherstrip
Remove the sun roof lid. Lubricate the sun roof lid weatherstrip where it contacts the roof opening with a silicone spray (Figure 1). Apply extra spray
on the front and rear portions which contact the roof protectors.
