Insert the back-up collar into the inner tube with the rounded shoulder of the collar fully seated inside the inner tube.

Coat the outside of the oil seal on the rack with ATF.

Place Oil Seal Drift J34624 on the rack between the rack piston and the oil seal. Slide the inner tube and cylinder end housing onto the rack
(Figure 19).

Support the cylinder end housing in a press (Figure 20) and press on the end of the rack to install the oil seal into the inner tube. Remove the rack
and inner tube assembly from the press. Remove the cylinder end housing and drift from the rack.

IMPORTANT:

Oil Seal Drift J34264 MUST be used to install the seal without damage. Be careful not to scratch the rack surface while pressing
the oil seal into the inner tube.

8.

Remove the plastic inner tube collar, the large circlip and large washer from the inner tube. Use Snap Ring Pliers with Parallel Opening Jaws
J8059 and be careful to not scratch the outside of the inner tube. This is a sealing surface.
