ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT)

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

CAUTION:
-

Before servicing, disconnect the battery cable from negative terminal.

-

To remove brake tube, use a flare nut wrench to prevent flare nuts and brake tube from being damaged. To install, use flare nut crowfoot
and torque wrench.

-

Do not apply excessive impact to ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit), such as dropping it.

-

Do not remove and install actuator by holding harness.

1. Remove cowl top. Refer to See: Body and Frame/Cowl/Cowl Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Exploded View.
2. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) connector.
3. Loosen brake tube flare nuts, then remove brake tubes from ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
4. Remove ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) bracket mounting nut.
5. Remove ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.

After work is completed, bleed air from brake tube. Refer to See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair.

After installing harness connector in the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit), make sure connector is securely locked.

-

After removing/replacing an ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit), be sure to perform the following procedure.

- Adjustment of steering angle sensor neutral position: Refer to See: Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Adjustment Of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position/Description See: Antilock Brakes / Traction
Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Adjustment Of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position/Special Repair
Requirement.
- Calibration of decel G sensor: Refer to See: Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Programming and
Relearning/Calibration Of Decel G Sensor/Description.
