14. Apply masking tape or equivalent covering over the splined end of the drive gear assembly as shown in Figure 17.

15. Make sure the bearing race and any shims are installed and do not fall out during assembly.

16. Position the drive gear assembly on a wood block, and then install it by carefully lowering the transfer case over it (see Figure 19).
