Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

 Air Flow Meter Testing

1.

Pull the rubber insulator back from the air flow meter connector.

2.

Turn the ignition switch ON.

3.

Start and warm the engine to operating temperature and then let it idle.

4.

Using a volt meter, check voltages between terminal 1 and ground under the following conditions.

IDLING:

Approximately: 0.7 - 1.1 VOLTS.

IGNITION "ON" ENGINE STOPPED:

Less than: 1.0 VOLT.

 Air Flow Meter Inspection

If the meter fails the above test, check the "Hot Wire" for dust or damage and replace the meter if necessary.
