SERVICE INFORMATION

If the automatic transmission of an applied vehicle exhibits the following condition:

^

shift flare from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd gear while accelerating, Refer to the Service Procedure in this bulletin to identify and repair the incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:

Shift flare is generally described as a condition where an automatic transmission slips during shifting. The slippage occurs to the point where the
engine RPM rises or "flares" up, as though the transmission is no longer "in gear" or the gear clutch seems to be completely disengaged.
