TUBULAR REAR BUMPERS FOR TRUCKS

APPLIED MODEL: 1983.5-1985 720 Truck equipped with a tubular rear bumper

SERVICE INFORMATION

When towing with a truck equipped with a steel tubular rear bumper (P/N 999KW-73003), the hitch ball must be mounted directly on the bottom tube.
Never use a drop hitch on a tubular bumper. True use of a drop hitch creates unusually high loads on the bumper and may lead to a cracked or broken
bumper.
When towing with a truck equipped with an aluminum tubularbumper (P/N 999KW-73002) or if a lower towing height is needed on a 4x4 truck
equipped with a tubular rear bumper, use the Tow Bar Hitch Kit (P/N 999KW-73002-01). This hitch kit bolts to the truck frame through the bumper
brackets and does not create high loads on the tubular bumper.

NOTE:

When installing the tow bar hitch kit to steel tubular bumpers (P/N 999KW-73003), it is necessary to perform the following operations in
addition to the installation instructions found in the kit.

Cut off the safety chain loop from the bumper as shown below. Remove any burrs from the cut area and apply Nissan Tecty1
