Drill and tap 3 holes at the locations marked on the outside flange. (Three places per drum).

Position the brake drum in a vise with the 2" x 4" wooden block across the drum opening and the 1/4" x 1-1/2" wooden spacer under the
drum as shown below.

CAUTION: Do not overtighten the vise on the brake drum.

Slide one end of the spring through the gap between the bottom of the drum and vise and connect the ends of the spring.

Using a large standard screwdriver, stretch the spring onto the brake drum as shown below.

Loosely install two (2) of the retaining clips to the brake drum and then push the spring under each clip. Tighten the screws of the two
retaining clips.

8.

Remove the brake drum from the vise and install the third retaining clip to the brake drum. Ensure that the spring is located under the
third clip.

9.

Repeat steps 2 through 8 for the other brake drum and then install the brake drums and wheels to the vehicle.

SPECIAL NOTE: Countermeasure rear brake noise parts are not designed to be installed on late production vehicles with brake

drums of the configuration shown below.
