STEERING GEAR MODEL CODE, ALL MODEL VEHICLES
Modification Notice.
The steering gear model code has been revised. The information needed to identify the new steering gear model code is as follows:
1.
The new code consists of a maximum of seven letter-figure combinations.
2.
The basic 2-digit figure refers to the rack diameter on the rack and pinion type steering gear and the center-to-center distance of the sector shaft
and worm/stub shaft on the recirculating ball type steering gear.
3.
A column has been added to the model code which indicates the difference in gear ratio and/or control valve construction between steering gears.
4.
The new steering gear model code applies to all steering gears which are not being, or will be, manufactured. (It does not apply to those which
have already been manufactured.)
