A.

If diagnosis steps A through C reveal a problem, perform the necessary repairs as indicated.  After completing the repairs, verify the TCM
production date (see Figure 1).  If the date is before 3/10/97 replace the TCM with a countermeasure unit (see Figure 2).

B.

If diagnosis steps A through C do not reveal a problem, verify the TCM production date (see Figure 1) and if the date is before 3/10/97
replace the TCM with a countermeasure unit (see Figure 2).

 
NOTE:  

When verifying the TCM production date, please note that there were two different TCM part numbers installed on 1997 Quest vehicles
(31036-1B100 and 31036-1B101). Part number 31036-1B100 is an early TCM and must be replaced regardless of the production date.  Part number
31036-1B101 is a later TCM and is only replaced if the production date is before 3/10/97.
