SERVICE INFORMATION
If an applied 2000-2001 Sentra exhibits the following symptoms when in Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD - "Cruise Control") mode and when
climbing a hill:
^
The Automatic Transmission (A/T) downshifts normally into 3rd gear, but when climbing is completed, it may take several minutes for the A/T to
upshift into Overdrive again and the RPMs stay high.
The ASCD wire may have excessive slack and be out of adjustment.
If this condition should occur, use the Service Procedure provided in this bulletin to adjust the ASCD wire and correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Adjusting the ASCD Wire:
1.
Test drive the vehicle under the conditions described in the Service Information section to confirm that the symptoms exist.
2.
Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut at the ASCD wire (see Figure 1 for locations).
3.
Ensure the accelerator wire is properly adjusted. Refer to the 2000 or 2001 Sentra Electronic Service Manual (ESM), Section FE (Accelerator
Control, Fuel & Exhaust Systems)/Accelerator Control System/Adjusting Accelerator Wire, pages FE-3 and FE-4 for the adjusting procedure.
