Step 23D on page 10 of the 1987 Sentra A/C Kit Instructions states to

attach the evaporator inlet tube and clip to the canister bracket (except coupe and early production models). The clip cannot be installed on early
production models because the hole in the canister bracket is too small. Beginning with 6/86 production, the hole in the canister bracket has been
enlarged to accommodate the clip. Please utilize this clip on all vehicles built 6/86 and later.

NOTE:

All U.S. built Sentra vehicles have the proper size canister bracket hole and can utilize the clip.
