Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Testing and Inspection

1.

Check that vacuum hoses are routed properly and check them for cracks or distortion.

2.

Check that air control valve is in down position when engine is cold.

3.

Start engine and immediately check that valve rises.

4.

Check that valve rises and lowers when engine speed is quickly increased and decreased.

5.

Check that valve partially rises as engine warms up. If valve responds as described in steps 2-4, test is complete.

6.

Disconnect vacuum motor inlet vacuum hose and connect another hose to inlet to apply vacuum to vacuum motor, then check that valve moves.

7.

With engine cold and running at idle, disconnect vacuum motor inlet vacuum hose and check that vacuum is present at end of hose. If not, check
vacuum hoses for leakage. If vacuum hoses are good, replace sensor.
