INTRODUCTION
The stop lamps in the rear combination lamp assembly on some 1996-97 Sentra vehicles may not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard. A brighter stop/tail lamp bulb which will bring the stop lamps into compliance with the Federal standard is now available. All owners of the
affected vehicles will be notified and sent two of the new light bulbs. Owners will be instructed to either install the bulbs themselves or take their vehicle
to a dealer to have the bulbs installed.
NOTE:
The center high-mount stop light is not affected by this campaign.
IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
Nissan has assigned identification number 98V-008 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature
dealing with this campaign.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY
The dealer shall replace the stop/tail lamp bulbs in any customer's vehicle who prefers to have the dealer replace the bulbs rather than doing it
him/herself. Also, the dealer is responsible for replacing the bulbs in any affected vehicle which the dealer has in inventory.
Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can
result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While Federal law applies only to new cars, Nissan strongly encourages
dealers to correct any used cars in their inventory before selling them.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Use standard procedure to remove and replace both rear stop lamp bulbs with the new bulbs (see Parts Information table for part number). If the
customer does not have the replacement lamps which were sent to him/her, additional bulbs can be ordered through your PDC.
A copy of the detailed procedure which was sent to each customer is included with the Owner's Letter is shown.
PARTS INFORMATION
One pair of bulbs has been sent to all consumers. Additional bulbs can be obtained from your PDC.
