Fuel Supply Line: Service and Repair
Engine Compartment Fuel Pipes

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Relieve fuel system pressure. 
2. Remove the quick connect fittings at engine compartment fuel feed and return connecting lines. 
3. Plug fuel lines.
4. Engine fuel feed and return pipe retainer and screws.
5. Remove the fuel pipe from regulator using back-up wrench.
6. Remove the fuel pipe from fuel rail.

CAUTION: If it is necessary to remove rust or burrs from a fuel pipe, use emery cloth in a radial motion with the pipe end in order to prevent
damage to the O-Ring sealing surface.

Using a clean shop towel, wipe off the male pipe end.

Inspect both ends of the fitting for dirt and burrs. Clean or replace components as required.

7. Discard O-Rings.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Install the new O-Rings.
2. Install the fuel pipe to fuel rail.

Tighten the retainer screw to regulator to 6 Nm (53 lbs. in.).

3. Fuel pipe to fuel rail using back-up wrench.

Tighten the Fuel fitting to 30 Nm (22 lbs. ft.).

4. Install the quick-connect fittings. 
5. Install the fuel line retainer.
6. Install the fuel line clamps and screws. T

-

Tighten Fuel line clamp screws to 10 Nm (89 Lbs. in.).

7. Install the negative battery cable.
8.  Install the fuel filler cap.
9. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds.

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for ten seconds.

-

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

-

Check for fuel leaks.
