RADIO ASSEMBLY DIFFICULT OR UNABLE TO REMOVE
(REMOVE SCREW/ADD RADIO RETAINER)

CONDITION:
Some vehicles may experience a condition where the radio is difficult or unable to be removed.
CAUSE:
Some instrument panel radio brackets may have been improperly positioned. The I/P retainer bracket (1) was positioned too far from the radio to
properly seat the radio retainer (3) into the I/P retainer bracket. In order to seat the radio retainer into the I/P bracket, a screw (2) was used as illustrated
in Figure 1. The radio retainer is a 'push in" type and should not require a fastener for proper fit. The accessibility of the screw has made removal of the
radio difficult.
CORRECTION:
To verity and correct the condition, perform the following:
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Remove right sound insulator. Refer to Section BC of the Service Manual.
3.
Disengage temperature control cable to HVAC module. Refer to Section 1A and 1B of the Service Manual.
